Thread extension for cable glands and cable entry plates, M32 / M50 / M63
Custom made thread extension for cable glands and cable entry plates with metric threads M32 / M50 / M63.
» TE Thread extensionBy using split cable glands by icotek pre-terminated cables with diameters from 1 to 35 mm can be quickly routed into enclosures, control panels or machines and be sealed with up to IP66 / IP68 / UL Type 4X* rated ingress protection (certified according to EN 60529 / UL50-E). In addition, the cable glands serve as strain reliefs on the cable. The split cable glands enable quick and easy assembly which is great for retrofits and maintenance. Find out more »

» AB-MPlugs for sealing already pierced membranes of cable entry plates as well as for numerous cable grommets.
» ST-BThe icotek split cable glands enable the transit of connectorised cables or complete cable harnesses. In contrast to conventional cable glands the connector doesn’t have to be cut off the cable in advance and be re-connected afterwards. Thus, the cable manufacturer's warranty remains and you save a lot of assembly time.
But also electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic lines without connectors as well as corrugated conduits and hoses can be easily routed, sealed and strain relieved using split cable glands.
A quick and easy assembly is possible due to the completely split system. The prefabricated cable is placed into the split grommet which is set into one of the gland halves. Due to the fine gradation of the cable diameters, there is an excellent adaptation of the grommet to the inserted cable or hose. Depending on the size of the cable gland, one, two or four separate grommets can be installed. By using multi-hole grommets up to 16 lines can be routed with one cable gland.
The two gland halves can be easily snapped together without the need of tools (screw assembly in case of the KVT-ER model). The assembled cables are securely sealed and held inside the cable gland grommets. To mount the cable glands either snap it into the wall or screw it with a hexagonal locknut. The different model ranges of the icotek split cable glands offer various application possibilities:
Depending on the model series, the split cable glands KVT and QVT are available in metric sizes from M16 to M63, thus matching metric standard cut-outs.
The split icotek cable glands comply with important standards like flame class UL94-V0, IP / UL rated ingress protection, UL recognized, DNV, RINA, ECOLAB detergent resistance, UV resistance and the European railway standard EN 45545-2 for fire safety and are therefore suitable for many applications and industries. Certificates or declarations of conformity can be requested directly from us.
A cable gland is a bushing for inserting or passing through a cable. It is usually made of plastic, fixes the cable and can take on additional functions such as sealing or strain relief. Cable glands are manufactured according to EN 50262 and consist of several parts that are screwed together via a thread.
The cable gland fulfills various functions. Your main tasks are:
Depending on the area of application, different functions are required. The requirements for the cable gland are determined by the installation, the ambient conditions and specific industry-specific standards (e.g. food technology, medical technology).
The screw connection consists of several parts. In the middle there is a seal made of rubber or elastomer, for example. It is inserted into a one-piece or multi-piece housing. When the housing is screwed on, the seal is pressed against the cable and, depending on the model, provides the necessary strength, sealing and strain relief.
The size of the cable gland depends on the cable that is to be passed through. The size of the cut-out in the wall or housing depends on the size of the cable gland. The cable diameter therefore determines the size of the gland and the hole.
The PG cable glands have a steel pipe thread. This has different dimensions than the metric threads used today and the two types of thread are not compatible with each other. The PG cable glands have largely been replaced by the new glands according to EN 60423 and are generally no longer installed.
The size of the cable gland depends on the outer diameter of the cable. The size of the cable can be found either from the data sheet or by measuring.
When exposed to dirt or moisture, it is also important to use a cable gland with at least the required protection class (IP XX). A cable gland with a higher protection class can be used without hesitation.
There are special split cable glands for pre-assembled cables. These allow you to insert a cable with a plug without removing the plug. The screw connection is simply assembled around the cable. Split screw connections can also be used for cables without plugs, but the opposite case does not work.
A NYM-J 3 x 1.5 has an outside diameter of about 9 mm. The following cable glands are suitable for this diameter:
If many 3 x 1.5 cables are to be inserted in the same place, it is advisable to use a cable entry plate to bundle many cables through. This saves space and working time compared to many individual cable glands.
The standards and requirements for cable glands differ depending on the area of application. The building, the installation location and the environmental conditions determine minimum requirements such as which type of protection and explosion safety of the cable gland. In some industries and areas, particularly special requirements and standards apply. This includes:
